Brand identity & design system

Diagnosing a design care plan for engineers

Perin Health is changing the remote vitals monitoring game in healthcare with a ground-breaking device that monitors over 15 patient vitals. This engineer-led team had the product end of the business completely figured out—but making people care about it was a completely different matter.

They knew they needed an easy-to-implement visual identity and design system so they could connect with their future customers, users, and currently with their investors. But in order to make that happen, they first needed a Brand Identity. The roadmap we took from concept to implementation looked like this:

  • A 2-day, in-person Brand Clarity Workshop to get clear about how to present the product and connect with people
  • The creation of a basic visual identity: A logo suite, a color palette, fonts + typography scale, photography & illustration styling
  • Publish the viz ID in a Figma design system library file so the team could easily access all brand patterns while implementing it into all channels
  • A 6-month implementation into their MVP website and connected product app ecosystem.

A lucrative 🤑 prognosis (that proves that tech doesn't have to = boring)

The Brand Clarity Workshop helped the founding team understand who they needed to talk to, and how they needed to talk to them. And for me, it helped me best understand their customers and how their brand personality should best be expressed through their visuals.

I partnered with the leadership team to develop the visual identity that included the necessary components they needed immediately. This is where the communication power of mood boards and mockups came in clutch! The team was already working with Figma, so setting up design tokens and components for them integrated perfectly with their existing workflow.

By project’s end, the leadership team reported back how easy it was to implement the design system into their products. They also reported how their main investor was so impressed with how all the products looked so market-ready in so little time! The cherry on top: They received an additional $800k in funding on this factor alone.
